As the author of HBCU Greatness: The Journey Continues, I’ve had the privilege of speaking with many of you—parents, students, alumni, educators, and lifelong supporters of Historically Black Colleges and Universities. Those conversations are what continue to motivate me to share more about why this book exists and what I hope it brings to your lives.

When I began this project, my goal was simple: to honor the legacy of HBCUs while creating a resource that educates, inspires, and uplifts. I wanted to present the facts clearly, highlight historical and current challenges, and create something that future generations could turn to for guidance.

What I didn’t anticipate was how deeply the book would resonate with so many people. During phone conversations and messages I’ve received, readers have described the book as:

  • “Outstanding research and presentation of facts”

  • “A guide for current and future generations”

  • “A product that promotes attendance and support of HBCUs”

  • “A roadmap and a salute to past generations”

Hearing those words reinforces why this work is so important.

HBCUs are more than institutions—they are anchors of opportunity, culture, leadership, and resilience. For decades, they have opened doors where none existed and shaped countless individuals who continue to strengthen our communities and country.

My hope is that HBCU Greatness: The Journey Continues inspires you to delve deeper into this legacy, support these institutions more intentionally, and share their impact with others. Whether you are discovering HBCUs for the first time or reconnecting with your alma mater, I hope the book inspires pride, awareness, and action.

Thank you for reading, sharing, and supporting this work. The journey continues—and so does the legacy.
